It's Friday! And that means it's time for another Get the Look! If you missed last week's post, I talked about how I'm changing up the format of this series to give myself some more design freedom and creativity. I got a great response from it over on Instagram, so this format will now be the "new normal" for this series. Hooray!

So, what is this new format? Well, rather than focusing on recreating a single space from a single image, I'm now going to be gathering several inspiration images that all echo a similar style and then design a room around them. I'll still be sharing the furniture and decor and offer a little commentary - it will just look slightly different!

Lately, I've been intrigued by a slightly moodier, masculine look, so that's our inspiration for today. We're not talking about a "man cave central" idea that pop into your mind, but rather a sophisticated, cozy look that includes darker colors and often something in buttery leather. My particular spin on it definitely has a modern vibe, with clean-lined furniture and mid-century inspired pieces.

Overall it feels warm, inviting, and definitely favors simple over fussy. Let's get into the inspiration!

Charcoal/light grays and blacks are an important part of putting this style together, and you'll notice a lot of natural wood tones as well. You'll notice that some of the pieces have a slightly rough hewn look to them, but don't venture too far into rustic territory.

Natural fiber rugs - or ones with simple geometric patterns - are often the choice ground the furniture. They definitely give off that cozy vibe we're going for with this style.

Love the look of this moody masculine living room with its simple Scandinavian style? A cozy leather sofa, simple accessories, and a modern light fixture work together beautifully. Get the look of this style on the Mix & Match Blog!

Don't these rooms just make you want to snuggle up with a good book and a glass of wine? I'd sign up for a quiet evening in any one of these spaces!

All right, let's take a peek at the pieces I chose to recreate this moody, modern, and masculine living room look! Scroll on down to see the furniture and decor I chose, and then read a little bit about why I decided on these particular items. You can also Pin the graphic below for future reference if you want to come back to it later.

Get the look of this moody, modern, and masculine living room over on the blog! Mid-century modern furniture and rustic details mix together beautifully in this space!

Mid-Century Leather Accent Chair | Tufted Charcoal Sofa | Concrete Coffee Table | Ivory Jute Rug | Marble-Topped Pedestal Side Table | Mid-Century Double Wall Lamp | Watercolor Abstract Art Print | Abstract Sketched Lines Art Print | Canyon Photograph Art Print | Dotted Pillow | Shibori Pillow | Gray Knit Pillow | Media Console | Black Pitcher | Gray Vases

In this look, we're definitely playing the "high/low" game. Those amazing mid-century leather chairs are an investment for sure, but they'll wear and age beautifully as time goes on. They're actually on sale right now (as of 3/15/18), so if you love them as much as I do, be sure to snatch them up within the next few days!

The snazzy wood media console is another piece that's on the more expensive side at $999. The unique herringbone detail on the doors makes it a showstopper though - that's a good reason to spend a little extra on this one in my opinion.

On the flip side, there are a bunch of pieces in this room that are very affordable, like those crazy cool wall lamps, the concrete coffee table, and the throw pillows. Be sure to click around to the different sites to see everything!

And finally, I chose three pieces of art to hang over the sofa, which makes for a nice focal point, and brings in some texture and movement. These are all from Minted, one of my favorite art sources, and I would suggest purchasing these prints in an 18"x24" size with black frames if you're mimicking this look.

Happy weekend, friends!
