Happy Friday, friends! This week has flown by - I hit the ground running on Thursday morning after flying back from a mini vacation in Florida and I'm looking forward to spending a weekend with friends! The south Florida weather I was in this week was a glorious retreat from winter. I think that all that time soaking up the sunshine pushed me to want to recreate the look of this living room that has a California eclectic feel, but surprise! this home isn't anywhere near the water - it's planted right in the middle of the country in Tulsa, Oklahoma! You can see the whole tour over on West Elm's blog, Front + Main, if you'd like.

This week's edition of Get the Look is all about neutrals done right. Besides the greenery you see in this space, there is very little color and yet, it's beautiful. The quiet color palette feels so refreshing in this open concept home.

There are definitely hints of mid-century modern in here, but there are also these organic, natural elements that you find so often in homes in Southern California. The mix of textures, the layered rugs, the collection of plants, and the ever-so-slight tribal look give it that eclectic and collected feel.

All right, let's take a look at how I pulled together some pieces to mimic this neutral California eclectic living room! Scroll on down to see the furniture and decor I chose, and then read a little bit about why I decided on these particular items:

Steer Art Print* | Mid-Century Modern Dresser | Gray Faux Fur Pillow | White Pillow | Faux Leather Pillow | Cowhide Pouf | Wood Stump Side Table | Modern Sectional | Black Arched Floor Lamp | Mid-Century Modern Coffee Table | Tribal Rug | Neutral Wool Rug | Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree | Woven Basket

The layered rugs were the first thing that caught my eye in this pretty living room. For the base one, I chose a chunky wool sweater rug that is super cozy, and layered it with a flatweave tribal rug that adds just the right amount of pattern without being too in-your-face. Both are quite affordable, and the base rug is currently on sale!

The pillow combo is a little bit unexpected, don't you think? You wouldn't think that leather, faux fur, and a nubby white pillow would all go together, but they definitely do! They read as neutrals, and the different textures and tones keep things interesting.

I just love that steer art print over the dresser - it adds a touch of whimsy and yet it plays right into the calm color palette of the rest of the space.

And finally, the fiddle leaf fig. I recently read a review on another blog about this specific one, and I was impressed! Don't be deterred by the crazy high shipping cost. The overall price, even with that factored in, is still well below the price of a lot of faux fiddles I've seen out there.

All right, so tell me - what's your favorite piece in this space?
