Look for Less: Great Furniture Finds

Do any of you subscribe to HGTV Magazine? It’s one of my favorites for inspiration and decorating ideas, so check it out if you haven’t seen it before. They have a section in there called “the high/low list” where they find two similar products at different price points and I thought it would be fun to do something similar here on the blog! If y’all like this idea, let me know, and I’ll see about making it a semi-regular series.

I’m calling my version of this “Look for Less,” and just like the HGTV version, I’ll grab two lookalike products - one that falls in the more budget-friendly category and one that’s a bit more of a splurge (though the ones I’ll be sharing are still quite reasonably priced!). One isn’t necessarily better than the other - they’re just different! Price does often correlate to quality, so bear that in mind as you’re comparing the products, but it’s ultimately up to you where you’d like to spend your hard-earned dollars!

Let’s jump in and play the high/low game! First up…

Modern Black Desk: Low* | High

Get the look for less or decide to splurge! Come see the budget-friendly and spend-worthy pieces of furniture in this blog post including the high/low sources for this modern black desk.

Both of these desks are simple and streamlined, and have the same overall feel, but there are a few differences - the two you’ll notice right away are that the angled pieces go opposite ways and one has a shelf for storage. Also, the “high” version (from Blu Dot) is larger overall and could be used as a dining table in a small space, and it comes in a variety of colors. Depending on your needs and budget, honestly either of these would be a great addition to your home!

Modern Wingback Chair: Low | High

These wingback chairs are eerily similar, but the “high” version from West Elm has lots of fabrics to choose from to customize the look if you’re looking for something other than an oatmeal or a linen color. The “low” version from Target was heartily endorsed by Emily Henderson recently, so it has that going for it! You can’t go wrong either way though - this modern wingback will fit in beautifully with a variety of decorating styles.

Velvet Bench Ottoman with Brass Legs: Low | High

Both of these pretty velvet ottomans have other fabric options and colors to choose from, so if this dusty blue isn’t your jam, don’t worry! The “low” version is from The Inside and actually has a ton of options in various colors, fabric types, and patterns. They’re all about customization! As a final note, one subtle difference between these two pieces that you’ll want to note is that one has matte brass legs and the other has polished ones.

Moroccan Shag Rug: Low | High

These Moroccan style rugs are super popular right now and for good reason! They’re plush underfoot, add some punchy pattern to your floor, and bring in that eclectic boho vibe into your home. These two are approximately the same size and have similar patterns. The materials are really what account for the price difference - the “low” version is made of polypropylene and the “high” version is made of New Zealand wool.

Wishbone Style Dining Chair: Low | High

These dining chairs have slightly different colors, but both are replicas of the iconic Hans Wegner Wishbone chair. They come in several wood finishes and seat styles as well to suit just about any taste. I’ve seen them used in anything from a coastal dining room to mid-century modern - they’re really versatile! One thing to note is that the “high” version only comes as a set of two, which is typically fine for a dining room setting, but it’s good to know.

Indigo Shibori Headboard: Low | High

Anyone in the market for a fun headboard? I’ve got one for you! Both of these are quite affordable - it really comes down to whether you prefer yours with or without nailheads. Also, if you like this fabric, but want a different headboard shape, both of these retailers carry several options including some with more curvy lines and a wingback version.

That’s what I’ve got for y’all today in the high/low game! Which ones are worthy of a splurge or save in your book?

Pin it for later!
