I love reading reviews - it’s one of the best research tools we’ve got for making good decisions when shopping online for furniture and decor! And you know what’s even better than a review on a product page? A personal testimonial. Isn’t it just the best when a friend raves about ___? It makes you much more likely to feel confident about purchasing something.
So today, I thought I’d go back through some of my favorite purchases from Wayfair and give my honest review of them one by one through my lens as both an interior designer and first-hand user. I shop Wayfair a LOT because it’s a one-stop-shop for so many different categories in one place - from beautiful lighting to reliable furniture brands - and the shipping is also often very quick and free.
I get asked a lot if Wayfair furniture is good quality and my answer is nuanced. Wayfair isn’t the manufacturer - it’s an aggregator of many, many brands, so it’s up to you to do your research on the specific piece you’re furniture in. It’s like going to the mall where there are lots of price points and quality levels to choose from and there’s something for everyone! I’m sharing my honest review of five pieces I’ve owned long-term—covering durability, comfort, and whether they’re actually worth it.
For these particular pieces, I’ll tell you how long I’ve owned it, what I love about it, and if I have any feedback or “watch-outs” on it. We have LIVED with these pieces for at least a year, and many for much longer than that, so you’re getting a firsthand account of just how well they hold up. These are also pieces that y’all have commented on a LOT over the years, so I think it’s high time I put all of the info about them in one place.
1. Loloi Margot CloudPile Rug
Amount of time owned: 2.5 years
What I love about it: It’s SO SOFT. Seriously - it’s hard to beat the cozy factor of this rug. People are shocked when they walk on it in bare feet! I find it’s also quite stain resistant and easy to clean. A guest spilled red wine on it recently and I forgot about it for a few days and I was still able to remove it with a little Folex and a lot of dab, dab, dabbing.
The pattern and style also looks very much like a vintage Persian rug, even down to the visual texture it has. It almost looks like it’s hand-knotted from a distance. For the price point (i.e. very affordable), I’m very impressed with the design and durability. If you’re not going to invest in a wool hand-knotted rug, this is a great alternative. I would definitely recommend the Loloi Margot rug to busy families like ours who don’t want to worry about their rugs.
My feedback and “watch-outs” on it: My one complaint about this rug is that I find it tricky to vacuum. Because the pile is a little higher, the soft fibers are very fine, it tends to almost swallow crumbs or particles. You really have to vacuum in all directions! Now the flip side is that it has incredible hide - things almost disappear on it, which is fantastic for a home with kids, pets, or if you host a lot.
2. Blue Patterned Chairs
Blue patterned chairs with the Margot rug in our current living room.
Amount of time owned: 3.5 years
What I love about them: I fell hard for this pattern the moment I saw them. I knew they’d be the statement chair I’d been looking for and I was right! They’re a conversation starter and people always go for them first when they sit in our living room. They’re a great scale too - wide enough to be generous, but visually light with their taller legs. The curve of the arms also lends itself to a more traditional style, but mixed with the graphic blue pattern, it leans a little modern and unexpected.
The fabric has been quite forgiving thanks to the busyness of the pattern. I have been pleasantly surprised how well they’ve held up with our kids and general messiness that comes with life!
My feedback and “watch-outs” on it: I find that I have to tighten the legs every so often because they loosen up over time. We use these chairs every day and because the legs are attached by a single screw (a heavy duty one, but only one) and they’re tall, I think they just get worked back and forth a lot which loosens them up. I wish they were the kind that had four screws on a “base” because I think they’d be more sturdy, but it hasn’t affected the overall durability of the chair.
A “watch-out” is that these chairs are not performance fabric. I have spot cleaned them several times and they clean up nicely, but I’d say they aren’t stain resistant.
3. “Cumulus Landscape II” Canvas Art by Emma Scarvey
Amount of time owned: 6 years
What I love about it: I love a dreamy abstract landscape. It has that mix of coastal and traditional that suits my style just perfectly. You can’t beat the price point for a large piece, even for a framed version (mine is just the canvas) - the 36”×36” in a float frame is right around $100. Art is something that I encourage people to shop around for until you find something that speaks to you. Whether it’s a print or an original, if it makes you smile, it’s a winner! This one has moved around in our different houses, but always finds a home somewhere.
Check out Emma Scarvey’s other works too on Wayfair - there are a good number that have a similar style to this one. I love that I can support an independent artist even on a large platform like Wayfair!
My feedback and “watch-outs” on it: The print quality is really good - it fools people a lot into thinking it’s an original! I have no other feedback on this piece other than go buy it if you love it too. :)
4. Table Lamp with Scalloped Rattan Shade
Amount of time owned: 1 year
What I love about it: This lamp is cute as a button! It’s neutral, but has enough detail to make it visually interesting. I currently have it on top of my grandmother’s antique jelly cupboard and in front of my Emma Scarvey canvas. I love the mix of modern, coastal, and traditional. That little vignette is my style in a nutshell.
This would also work nicely in a girls’ bedroom with the scalloped edge rattan shade. It has that perfect feminine quality to it IMO.
My feedback and “watch-outs” on it: It comes in two sizes, so be sure to pay attention to what you’re ordering. I’d say the larger size (22”H) is probably the best size for most spots. It’s a little short for your average end table, so it’s a lamp I’d recommend for a taller nightstand or a taller piece of furniture.
5. Wingback Upholstered Bed in Zuma Pumice Textured Linen
Amount of time owned: 6.5 years
What I love about it: It’s hard to go wrong with a classic wingback bed and this one fits the bill. It’s a good balance of quality and price, and I appreciate that it comes in so many different colors. You can order a fabric sample to see in person as well, which is always a good thing to do when you’re ordering upholstery.
As you can see, we’ve had this bed for almost 7 years now and it’s still going strong. That’s a pretty good testimonial, I’d say! It’s also been a bestseller on Wayfair for years now - I can see why!
My feedback and “watch-outs” on it: I was in a gray era when I bought this, so if I purchased it again (which I would!), I’d go with a warmer toned fabric like the Classic Talc or Classic Linen. Don’t tell my husband, but I may move this to the guest room eventually and shop for a new bed for our bedroom.
Also, some of the images on the website make it look like it’s a platform style bed with slats. It is NOT. You need a boxspring with this one. They have another Hanson bed that comes in a platform style so just be sure that you’re ordering the correct one for your bedroom.
So is buying these pieces of furniture, lighting, and decor from Wayfair worth it?
I’d give a resounding yes! As my **spoiler alert** title would suggest, I’m a big fan of these five pieces from Wayfair. I can honestly say I would recommend them to someone who loves a modern coastal-meets-traditional design style. The fact that the pieces I have are still being carried by Wayfair also speaks to their longevity.
I hope reading through today’s honest reviews have helped you find a few new perfect pieces for your own home! If you have any questions about any of the pieces you see here, ask away!
