Favorite Spaces From the Fall 2017 One Room Challenge
If you follow me on Instagram or caught last week's Get the Look post, you probably picked up on the fact that I'm jumping in on this spring's One Room Challenge! This event is hosted by Calling It Home and happens twice a year. It's a six week makeover challenge where featured participants and guests (that's me!) decorate a space from scratch and share the process along the way. It's really fun and a tad stressful, but ending up with a finished room is well worth the work! I participated in this challenge last spring and gave my home office a bright and cozy makeover. You can check it out here!
The first post goes up THIS THURSDAY and I cannot wait to share the before photos of the room I'll be working on along with the inspiration behind the design. Stay tuned for that and be sure to subscribe to the blog so you don't miss a post!
In honor of the ORC starting this week, I thought I'd take a look back and share some of my favorite spaces from last fall's event. There were some really good rooms from the featured participants, and I'm so impressed with their talents. I hope they're as inspiring to you as they are to me!
Mix & Match's Favorite Fall 2017 ORC Makeovers:
via Old Brand New
I'm currently working on an outdoor patio space for a client, and I'm definitely pulling some inspiration from parts of Old Brand New's colorful and eclectic ORC makeover! This one is a little more bold than what I'm going for with my client, but I'm really feeling that black wall and all the pops of color.
The vintage modern mix in Megan Pflug's living/dining room is spot on in my book. She divided up the long, narrow space really well, which isn't easy! Creating a few separate zones makes each one feel cozy and purposeful. Also, can we talk about those soaring A-frame ceilings? I think I need to do some more investigating on the rest of this house - it looks awesome!
via Old Home Love
I can't get over how pretty that shade of blue is in this farmhouse style kitchen. It's brighter than navy, but not quite a royal blue. It plays so well with the butcher block countertops and the touches of black and white. Head to the full post to see more angles of this space - I wish there were more wide shots so you could see the whole thing all together!
via Making It Lovely
I'm totally digging this office setup that Making It Lovely created in her home. Sloped ceilings and weird angles are one tricky beast to deal with when you're designing a room and she made it work beautifully!
How about that marble-topped table paired with those modern green chairs? Or the cozy lounge corner by the window? You've got to see the rest of this space - don't miss out on the wallpapered storage nook too!
Sophisticated kid's rooms can be hard to find, but Caitlin nailed this one for her little boy! It is definitely a room that can grow with him over time thanks to some classic choices like the upholstered bed and campaign style nightstand. Overall, the room reads as neutral, but all of the different textures and patterns add so much life - wouldn't you agree? Plus, the addition of that fantastic blue abstract art above the bed brings in the perfect touch of fun.
via Simply Grove
Kristen from Simply Grove made over this living room for her in-laws - isn't that just the sweetest gift? The mix of modern and traditional is so eye-catching and inviting. The first thing I noticed was that teal wall with board and batten detailing, which really brought this room up a notch! (It reminds me of the dining room I revealed last week!) I'm also digging those layered rugs. Layering two busy patterns isn't something I would normally think to do, but it really works here.
I'll finish up this post with my favorite ORC space of them all - this bedroom from Little Green Notebook! It marries so many styles really beautifully - modern, laid-back California, coastal...and the result is just stunning. This eclectic, but cohesive feel is something I'm going for in my One Room Challenge space this spring, and my fingers are crossed that I'll be able to pull it off as well as Jenny did here!
Stay tuned for Thursday - I can't wait to share my first post with you!
