Happy Friday, friends! Today's Get the Look will be the final one for a little while - this series will be taking a break because of a very special project I'm diving into next week - the One Room Challenge! I'll be making over my guest room over the course of six weeks and a new post will go live each Thursday detailing the process. I hope you'll follow along! To wrap up this series (at least for now!) I thought I'd end by sharing a bedroom look inspired by Fixer Upper since it is about to finish up its incredible five year run! I think most of us are familiar with Chip and Joanna Gaineses' popular HGTV show and have probably laid eyes on at least one of their amazing renovations. I happen to love when she designs a home that leans into an industrial modern farmhouse style, so that's the route we're going to go today!

Oddly enough, the inspiration images I'll be sharing today aren't bedrooms - they're kitchens! Don't be confused by that as I get into the inspiration portion of the post. :) There's actually a mini lesson to be learned here: inspiration can come from anywhere and taking elements from spaces that are different from the one you're designing can actually help you be a little more creative and think outside the box.

So let's jump into this and talk about what specifically got me so excited to design a bedroom inspired by kitchens that have an industrial modern farmhouse vibe.

Industrial modern farmhouse inspiration

The inspiration I pulled from these images had to do with the clean lines, simple color schemes, and material choices. Notice the sharp corners and hard angles in the cabinetry, countertops, and hardware. The look is about as unfussy as you can get without moving into the minimalist category. I do want to point out that although it is a clean look, it doesn't feel cold thanks the addition of some warmer elements like brass hardware and warm, natural wood tones. I wanted to mimic that balance of clean-yet-warm in the bedroom as well.

The color scheme definitely leans heavily into the black, white, and natural wood tones, but I did want to include another less neutral color, so I decided to add in a deep blue-green as well. I pulled that from the cabinetry color two photos back.

Another common element you'll see in these kitchens is the use of industrial style black and brass lighting. I'm a big fan of that combo and I decided to add it into the bedroom in the form of wall sconces that flank the bed. They remind me a little bit of barn lights (there's that farmhouse style making an appearance), but they lean more modern.

And finally, I mimicked some of the material choices when I went to design this bedroom. Here are a few examples:

  • The wood bed frame was inspired by the butcher block countertops
  • I chose marble shelves with brass brackets to echo the marble countertops and brass hardware
  • The black metal bedside tables had the same feel as the black metal shelving

Industrial Modern Farmhouse Bedroom Design

Get the Fixer Upper Industrial Modern Farmhouse look for your bedroom. This look was inspired by some of my favorite kitchens designed by Joanna Gaines. Clean lines, warm natural wood, and a good dose of black make for a cozy sleeping space.

Industrial Wood Platform Bed* | Industrial Modern Black/Brass Wall Sconce | Modern Black Nightstand | Marble Wall Shelf | Brass Shelf Bracket | White Modern Farmhouse Dresser | Round Black Mirror | Distressed Blue Green Persian Rug | Blue Linen Shams | Honeycomb Lumbar Pillow | Woven Triangle Pillow | Leather Bench

I just love how this bedroom came together. It has that clean look I talked about in the inspiration section, but it also feels cozy. Being that it IS a bedroom, that part is pretty important! I warmed things up with that natural wood bed, textured pillows and shams, a big vintage-inspired blue-green rug, and touches of brass.

The open shelves are a perfect spot to add some pretty display items and plants. If you have a short span of wall that just needs something, consider two or three of these marble shelves to fill it. It'll add some personality and style!

Lastly, I want to point out that awesome leather bench that I picture that sitting at the end of the bed. It was inspired by some of the leather bar stools I spotted in a couple of the inspiration images, and I knew I had to bring something into this bedroom design that had a similar look and feel. This did the trick! It's a great price too, which is always nice. :)

So what do you think? Would you make this your bedroom? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
