Get the Look: Modern Eclectic Family-Friendly Living Room
via Domino
Happy Friday, y'all! This week, for my "Get the Look" post, I wanted a bright and airy living space that was also family friendly, and this one definitely fits the bill! I mean, look at that adorable kid's tent - if that doesn't scream, "Kids live here too!," I don't know what does. :)
This family room comes from the very talented Heidi Caillier via Domino Magazine (one of my faves). She transformed this Seattle home into a light and modern space fit for adults and kids alike. I could have chosen any one of the rooms in this home for today's post, but this living space was calling my name. The white walls, bright blue sectional, layered rugs, and boho touches like the accent chair and leather poufs are a perfect combo in my book.
Who's ready to move in with me?
Royal Blue Sectional | Jute Natural Fiber Rug | Moroccan Diamond Shag Rug | Round Three Leg Coffee Table | Rattan Lounge Chair | Locker Cabinet (Media Console) | Leather Pouf Ottoman | Faux Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree | White Ceramic Planter | White Kids Teepee Tent | Mudcloth Pillow | Indigo Tribal Pillow | Indigo Orca Geometric Pillow | Lilac Paisley Pillow | Tropical Green Pillow
The pieces I chose are a mix of high and low (especially the pillows!), and I think that's a great mentality to take when you're designing a room. As long as you stick to your overall budget, it's ok to spend up on something - just remember you'll have to cut costs somewhere else! There are always less expensive alternatives out there that can give you the look you want without breaking the bank, but choose wisely. I wouldn't necessarily recommend sacrificing comfort or style on a big piece like a sofa in order to be able to buy a designer pillow (eek!). Invest wisely in pieces that will get tons of use, and then worry about the rest! #thatsmytwocents :)
I hope y'all have a fantastic weekend, and as always, if you have a room you love and want to "get the look" of it, send it my way and I'll consider it for this weekly post!
Psst! Have you been following along with the other posts in the Get the Look series? These go up every Friday here on the blog. Each week, I take a photo of a beautifully designed space and find the look-a-like pieces you can purchase that will mimic the room's look and feel.
