Adding Greenery To My Office With A Hanging Planter From Convivial Production
* Hello hello, my friends! A little note before we dive into today's post! Have you had a chance to read my interview from last week with Convivial Production's founder, Chentell Shannon? She's one amazing boss lady, and her pieces are insanely beautiful. Be sure to head over there next! *
Back in the spring, I gave my office a complete makeover in six weeks for the One Room Challenge (see the full reveal here!) and one thing I wanted to be sure to include in the space was plants. I feel like they're a designer's secret weapon - they have a way of bringing a room to life, act as a piece of decor, and add a touch of whimsy. Every space needs a little bit of whimsy, right?
In my small home office, there isn't a lot of surface space with good light for potted plants, but there is an open corner near the window by my desk and I felt like it was just begging for a hanging planter. For the One Room Challenge reveal, I had this one* hanging there, which I really liked, yet it always felt a little undersized, so when Convivial Production offered to send me one of their gorgeous handmade ceramic pieces, I knew one of their planters would be just right. The 2V Geometric Hanging Planter was a perfect fit for this spot - it balanced out the tall bookshelf I have on the other side, added a modern sculptural element, and complemented the abstract art hanging on the adjacent wall nicely. Also, the scale of this one is much better than the smaller planter I had before.
Hanging planters are great for trailing plants like pothos, philodendron, string of pearls succulents, and spider plants. When I'm choosing a new houseplant, low maintenance greenery is priority number one. Pothos have done really well in my house (I have two), but I decided to change things up this time and try a spider plant. My little collection of indoor plants has been steadily growing this year - I may be turning into a crazy plant lady! Watch out!
It's hard to capture the full beauty of this geometric planter in photos. In person, you really get the full effect of the precise workmanship and handmade feel of the piece. Their signature ivory glaze is the perfect shade of warm white and I love how the triangular facets catch the light at different times of day - it's truly a work of art.
One thing I noticed as I was taking these photos is how cool it is to see a piece that's so structured and modern paired with a wild plant like this. They kind of balance each other out, don't they? It's like it's saying, "I'm formal, but I'm here to party!" (Sorry - bad joke!)
If you're on the hunt for a great hanging planter, I love mine (the 2V), but I want to make sure you don't miss Convivial's others like the VL, the Woven, and the XX. Be sure to take a look at the rest of their collection of home, garden, and table wares too. Their pieces are already quite affordable, but they also offer some pieces in sets - those bundles will save you 20-30%!
Keep Convival in mind as you shop - whether it's for yourself or for others. I love supporting other small businesses when I can, and this is a good one! Their pieces would be perfect gifts for weddings, birthdays, housewarmings, or for loved ones over the holidays, which will be here before we know it.
So a big thank you to Convivial for sending me this beautiful planter for my little office - it brings me so much joy to spot it from down the hall as I'm heading in to work for the day. I'm sure this won't be the last piece from their collection to find its way into my home!
