Warm Up Your Outdoor Space with Fire Pits and Heaters

Being in the middle of a pandemic and figuring out how to still see friends and family safely isn’t easy, but at least summer weather makes socially distant, outdoor gatherings possible! As we roll into the cooler months of the year with coronavirus hanging around, getting together outside starts to become a little less feasible, but it can be done if you have a way to heat your patio, yard, or porch.

My hunch is that anything that warms up the outdoors in an easy, fun way is going to be the hot ticket item. I think there will be a run on fire pits and outdoor heaters this fall just like there was on inflatable pools this summer! I spent a little bit of time this weekend hunting for some good options, and now I’m thinking we need something for our home ASAP!

Fire Pits

Fire pits are perfect to gather around in the fall. You can go the wood-burning route or pick one up that uses gas/propane to light it up. It’s hard to beat the smell of woodsmoke, but if your goal is low maintenance and ease, gas/propane may be the way to go. Wood-burning fire pits do tend to be more affordable than gas/propane though. I rounded up a few of both options below to help you on your search!

I’m very intrigued by the Solo Stove and the pellet fire pit that sell themselves as putting off little to no smoke. That seems like the best of both worlds! If you have experience with one of those, let me know - I’d love to hear some firsthand reviews.

Outdoor Heaters

Another way to heat your outdoor space is a propane or electric heater. This gives you almost instant, push-button warmth. You see these a lot at restaurants and in more public spaces, but there’s no reason why you can’t have one (or a few!) at your home. They can be a bit more of an investment, but if you’re going to be outside a lot, it can be worth it to extend the season.
