Look for Less: Furniture & Decor Finds - Edition #8
The Look for Less is back for round 8!
Are you ready to play the high/low game? I hope so, because I’ve got five more save-or-splurge pieces for you to choose from today! I hear from a lot of you that this is one of your favorite series here on the Mix & Match Design Company blog, and I’m glad - it’s one of mine too!
I love finding budget-friendly pieces of furniture and home decor that have high style. There are some really good ones out there these days! I should note that price does often correlate to quality, so keep that in mind as you’re comparing the products. There are definitely times when it makes sense to take the plunge and invest in something for your home (e.g. a sofa, bed, or something that sees a lot of wear and tear), but mixing in affordable home decor definitely gets a hearty approval in my book.
Here’s what I’ve got for you today: a picture frame with oversized mat, a semi-flush mount light fixture, a neutral plaid pillow (hello fall!), a tall mid-century table lamp, and a modern cane sideboard.
I’d love for you to chime in on which ones would you “save” on and which ones would you “splurge” on!
Natural Gallery Frame with Oversized Mat : Low* | High
I recently shared a post rounding up all of my favorite gallery frames with oversized mats (and talked about why I love them so!) over here, and these two are great options. The lighter-toned natural wood feels so warm and modern at the same time. The “save” is half the price of the “splurge” though - what a deal! Note that the mat openings are different sizes though in case that causes you to swing one way or another. The $49 version has an 8x10 opening, while the $95 version holds a 5x7.
Black Semi-Flush Light Fixture: Low | High
I actually just purchased the “low” version of this semi-flush drum fixture for one of our bedrooms and I was so excited to find a good look-a-like for the “high” version! It’s not an exact match, but it has a similar look and feel, and the dimensions are very similar. I was on the fence though and almost hit buy on the splurge one when it went on sale recently - it’s so good. These come in different finishes as well (including brass!), so if black isn’t your thing, click over and take a peek at your other options.
Neutral Plaid Pillow (24”) : Low | High
Plaid is one of those patterns that screams fall to me. You don’t have to live in a cabin in the woods or only decorate with a farmhouse style to incorporate this classic look into your home though - it complements other patterns and styles almost effortlessly! The gray and ivory colors in these are just lovely. Note that the price is for the 24” pillows, which are on the larger side for throw pillows and would work really nicely on a bed or anchoring a combo of pillows on a sofa.
Tall Mid-Century Table Lamp : Low | High
I think I may have saved the best find for last today! That “high” version of this cane sideboard has been all over the internet for awhile, and I’ve been waiting for someone to design a more affordable version. Well, I think I found it! The storage setup is a little different in each of these, but they are pretty darn similar, aren’t they? I have no doubt that the “high” version is better quality, but man, saving over $600 is pretty appealing if your goal is simply to bring this look into your home without breaking the bank.
