Grab the Template: Itemized Furniture & Decor Spreadsheet
In case you hadn’t figured it out already from Design School 101, I’m all about good project planning! I think it sets you up for success and helps a project run more smoothly. It also sets expectations so there aren’t as many surprises (hopefully!) as you get into it.
I’ve already shared a general blank budgeting spreadsheet (this one!) in Design School 101, but today I want to take it a step farther by making it into an itemized template that you can use as a guide as you plan your next room makeover. It’s basically a giant list of the common pieces you’d need for a typical room design. 😊
I create a version of this for every e-design project I take on and it really is SO helpful to list everything out all in one place for planning purposes. Even if you already have something on the list, put that on there! Just add a note that says “already own” so you can check it off of your mental “to find” list.
For this particular template, I set up three different tabs for three spaces that just about every home has: a living room, a dining room, and a bedroom. I pre-populated the spreadsheets with the typical pieces of furniture and decor that space would need. Because every home is different - whether it’s size, layout, or just personal preference on furniture/decor - you will probably need to modify this to fit your needs. Think of this master list as a solid starting point!
If you’d like quick tour of how to use the spreadsheet, take a look at the video below. I’ll walk you through some of the basics!
