Shop My Style - Warm Modern Meets Traditional Family Room

I’m back with a new Shop My Style Design board for y’all today! In case you missed it, I rounded up the first three I did in this post a little while back. Catch up there if you’re looking for more ideas!

I love putting these together - it’s fun to share a peek at my design style and give you a taste of what I do with my e-design clients! These are a little more “low key” than my client design boards, but they include many of the pieces of furniture and decor that I might recommend for a space. My hope is that it’ll also give you a jumping off point for finding the right pieces for your own home.

Today’s design is inspired by a mashup of styles: a little bit modern, a little bit traditional, and all the cozy feels. If you’re a fan of Amber Interiors or Studio McGee (I definitely am!), you might see some echoes of their styles in here as well.

I’ve really been into warmer tones recently and you’ll see that reflected here with rust, camel, and tans, and they’re balanced out by the blue tones in the rug and hits of black.

In terms of the setup, I designed this family room for a larger space. I’m picturing a place for a family to lounge, share good conversation with guests, and enjoy each others’ company. It’s made for entertaining!

The sectional is 111”x111”, so definitely on the larger side. It’s upholstered in performance fabric, and has a casual-yet-tailored look. Across from it are two swivel chairs, which are great for turning back toward the sectional or pivoting to watch TV. Two rust colored ottomans add additional seating when needed or offer a place to put your feet up.

Jumping to the three-light brass light fixture, this is a great one if you’ve got 8-9’ ceilings. If they’re taller, you’ll want something a little more substantial!

The media cabinet pictured is a steal. It has a nice, high end look, but you won’t believe the price! You could use it as a TV stand or if you have extra wall space, style it with a piece of art, table lamp, and plant like you see here.

Finally, the pillows! I love this collection of three - it shows you a great example of how to mix patterns and colors without them being too matchy. The common thread is an ivory tone that runs through all three, but mixing up the scale, colors, and patterns gives it a collected, eclectic look. I almost always choose pillows last when I’m designing a living room since there are tons of options out there that can complement the rest of the choices in the room!
