A Look at My Recent E-Design Projects

I’ve had the privilege of designing some pretty lovely spaces for e-design clients in the past few months and I wanted to share a few of them here on the blog! I’ve worked on everything from tiny bathrooms to whole homes - it’s been so fun to be able to transform these rooms!

In case you’re new to the idea of e-design, here’s a little insight into how it works! Every full room project follows this general flow from start to finish:

  • The client fills out an informational questionnaire, and sends photos, a floor plan, and inspiration images to Mix & Match Design Co.

  • I take all of that information and create a flat fee proposal based on the scope of work for the client to review. Once it’s accepted, I convert that proposal into an invoice for the client to pay before the design phase begins.

  • When we’re ready to roll on the design phase, I create a digital space plan and design board that fits their needs, style, and budget. (Those design boards are what I’m going to be sharing today!)

  • The client then has an opportunity to review the design through my dedicated client portal and we’ll make any revisions to it as needed.

  • Once the design is finalized, I’ll put together a clickable shopping list and the client can purchase whenever they’re ready!

Now let’s dive into some of my recent e-design projects!

Modern Coastal Living & Dining Room

This project was a new build for a family with both kids and pets in Texas, so we wanted to prioritize both style and durability with the pieces we chose! The light and airy modern coastal look was perfect for this open concept first floor that included the living area, dining space, and kitchen. Making sure it all flowed together and felt cohesive was key, so I made sure to tie them together with similar finishes and complementary furniture silhouettes, and by echoing the color palette throughout. Of course, good space planning and furniture setup was a big part of the process too!

Here are the design boards for the living area and dining space:

Modern Traditional Family Room & Dining Room

This family brought me in while their future home in Richmond, VA was still under construction. Since I’m based in Richmond, I had a chance to tour it in person! Hopefully this project will be complete in the fall and I’ll head back over to shoot it so I can show you how the design board translated into real life!

I had the pleasure of working on their family room and adjacent dining space, and loved how they both turned out. The modern traditional design feels so cozy and comfortable, yet polished and put together for this young family of four. I love the contrast trim that the builders chose - it plays perfectly with the overall look and feel.

Below you’ll find two views of the family room and a look at the dining room. Can you spot the difference in the two views of the living space? We ended up having to make a last minute change due to something being out of stock, so you’ll see both versions here!

Modern Law Library

Though I don’t normally take on commercial projects, I have worked on several small office spaces over the years, and now I can add this law library to that list! A past client of mine had an office space that needed a refresh, so she reached out to ask about about working with Mix & Match Design Co. on their lobby, law library, and conference spaces. Given that they wanted a bit more of a residential feel, I felt like it was a great fit for me, and off we went.

They wanted their office to feel modern and polished with a touch of Restoration Hardware thrown in. This little library space ended up being one of my favorite spaces - from the statement multi-arm globe light fixture to the brass and velvet chairs…give me all the heart eyes. It really packs a punch with just a few key pieces!

Transitional Bedroom

“I want it to feel like a hotel” was one of the requests for this bedroom update and I think we landed on just that! After living with a hodgepodge of furniture from this couple’s pre-marriage homes, they were ready for an update.

I worked with some of their existing pieces like the tall upholstered headboard and bed linens, and integrated new pieces including matching nightstands, a pair of dressers (not shown), and some other minor pieces to round out the look. I tweaked the furniture placement a bit as well to give the room a cleaner feel while still offering plenty of storage. I’d be pretty happy to fall into that bed every night, wouldn’t you? 😉

Modern Cottage Powder Room

When a couple has two different styles, it can be tricky to figure out how to blend them while keeping a cohesive look overall. In this case, we had a mid-century modern design lover and one that fell more onto the cozy eclectic side. I actually think these styles can work together pretty seamlessly and we landed on what I’m calling a “modern cottage.”

We decided to go with a more saturated look by painting the walls and storage cabinet all the same color, and gave it a layered, collected vibe by adding in vertical shiplap, patterned floor tile, and a modern wood vanity. The touches of brass add additional warmth and we ended up with one pretty little powder room!

I think that’s where I’ll stop for today! I’m so grateful that these clients trusted me to design these spaces in their homes and I look forward to tackling many more spaces like these in the future! Want to see more of my e-design projects? Let me know on Instagram or in the comments below!
