Faux garland with berries

Though we haven’t started decorating our house for Christmas (yet!), I’ve started thinking about what it’ll look like in our new house in just a few short weeks. There are only 3 weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year, so getting organized now seems like the right thing to do - especially if you’re looking to purchase any new decorations!

I try to keep things pretty simple, but I definitely like to make our home feel festive and celebrate the season. Advent and Christmas are a unique and special time of year! My style leans toward “cozy modern” and I decorate for the holidays with that style as well. Since I’m keeping an eye out for a few items to fill in the “gaps” of what we have already, I thought it would be fun to round up some holiday decor along those lines that caught my attention in recent weeks. If you’re on the hunt too, I hope these recommendations will point you in the right direction!

I’ve got three roundups in three different categories to share with you:

  • Faux Greenery and Wreaths

  • Tree Decor and Garlands

  • Stockings

If something grabs your attention, you can find the link to it by clicking the item in the second graphic below. (Reading this in your email or a feed reader? Head on over to the website to access that feature!)

I absolutely love real-deal greenery and wreaths, but in some spots, it’s nice to go faux - especially if you plan to leave your greenery up for a longer period of time. Plus, no mess to clean up at the end! I like to mix a few real items with GOOD faux that I can reuse year after year. Fake greenery has come a LONG way and it used to be that you had to pay a pretty penny for the “good stuff,” but thankfully that’s not the case anymore! Most of what you see here comes from places like Target and Crate & Barrel - I’ve been very impressed by what I’ve found.

I’ve had a chance to see some of these in person, and for the rest, I tried to take a good, hard look at them up close online to figure out if they fell into that good faux category. I personally have a couple of strands of the garland with white berries in the bottom left corner of the graphic and they fool everyone! Folks don’t realize they’re fake until they touch them! They’re actually the ones you see on the stairs at the top of this post if you want to see them in action. :)

You can go a million different ways with your tree - sentimental, new theme every year, monochromatic…the possibilities are endless! I usually use the same silver ornaments again and again as a starting point, and add a couple of new ones each year that complement them. What’s your tree decorating style?

I’ve been on the lookout for a good tree collar and I’m really digging the two that are in this roundup. The idea of a tree in a basket is just charming to me! Both of these are great, affordable options. I’ve had a tree skirt for years and I’m thinking it’s time to make a change. You may see one of these in some photos later on this season!

I also found a bunch of different garlands that would look so great on a tree. You could also mix them in with some greenery on a mantle or down a bannister. The wood and white options both feel so clean and modern, and would be a great contrast with the organic look of pine branches, cedar, fir, etc.

Stockings

I wanted to round up some stockings this year for two reasons - we have a fabulous mantle in our new house that is just begging for them to be hung AND we now have a baby boy who I think needs one of his own! Actually, my husband and I don’t have stockings either (we’ve always been at our families’ houses for Christmas and our stockings live there), so perhaps it’s time to find some for the whole fam!

I’m definitely drawn to classic styles and the ones that particularly caught my eye were the knit stockings like the green one in the third row, and the navy and gray ones in the fourth row. Are stockings a part of your holiday tradition? Do you have matching ones or a collection of different ones?

So that’s what I’ve got for you today! I love that this holiday decor is budget-friendly - all under $100! Did anything catch your eye? Are you decorating your house yet or are you waiting until after Thanksgiving?
