What Caught My Eye: Target (Winter 2019 Edition)

What Caught My Eye is BACK! It was awesome to take a little break from blogging over the holidays, but I sure missed posting here. I’m excited about getting back into my normal rhythm, including re-starting this Friday series.

If you’re new around here, What Caught My Eye is a weekly post where I choose a retailer or topic and round up my favorite finds from their latest collections. It’s usually a smattering of furniture, decor, and accessories, and I also add in some color commentary about why I think these particular pieces are so great in my mind.

Ready to see what I have for you in the inaugural 2019 post?

This week, I’m covering Target - a fave of mine, and if I’ve judged correctly based on the reaction to my previous Target mentions, a fave of yours too! In particular, I’m focusing on their in-house brands: Hearth & Hand, Threshold, Project62, and Opalhouse. They released a bunch of new items just after Christmas (sneaky, sneaky!) and I’ve gotta say, they nailed it once again. Seriously. They are definitely in-tune with what’s popular and trending, and they’re designing some amazing stuff. I can’t wait for you to check it all out.

Be sure to read through my comments below about these pieces of furniture and decor - I’ve got some good details to share as well as some tips on how I’d use them. I’d happily put any one of these items in my own home! If you like what you see, you can click on over to check them out in detail over on Target’s website. There are often several pieces in a collection - for example, I might share a loveseat in the roundup, but they could also have a chair available in the same style, so don’t dismiss something just because it’s not quite what you’re looking for!

Now let’s take a look at what caught my eye. You’ll find the links to my favorite products below the graphic, and you’ll also see a slider of clickable images that will take you right to the item on the Target website. (If you’re on a feed reader or in your email, you’ll need to head to the full site to access that feature.) Happy shopping!

Target does it again! They have so many amazing new pieces of furniture and decor in their in-house brands including Project 62, Threshold, Hearth & Hand, and Opalhouse. I’ve rounded up my favroites from their recent collections. Head to the blog to get all the sources and read why I chose these!

Modern windsor bar stool: I think I verbally gasped when I saw these bar stools for the first time last week. The lines on them are gorgeous and they’re the perfect modern-meets-Scandinavian look that can fit in with a ton of different styles. They come in natural (shown here) and black, and they are available as a bar stool, counter stool, and regular dining chair.

Cane/bamboo patio loveseat: If you’re looking for some unique boho-style patio furniture, the Brittana collection may be perfect for you. It’s part of the Opalhouse line and there are a bunch of different pieces in this collection including dining chairs, a coffee table, and a bar cart. I think you could use these pieces inside as well - especially if you’re looking for something for your living or dining room that’s on the fun side. If you want to recreate the look of the seating in my Coastal California Breakfast Nook project, pick up a set of the dining chairs. :)

Modern leather and metal dining chairs: Lookalike product alert! These industrial modern dining chairs are super similar to the ones West Elm carries, but at a fraction of the price. They have great reviews too. As of the date of this post, they’re temporarily out of stock - keep an eye out though because I’m sure they’ll be available soon.

Extra long black & white lumbar pillow: I’m a huge fan of the oversized lumbar pillow (this one’s 42”x16”!) for your bed. It’s simple and streamlined, but has great visual impact too. They’re becoming increasingly popular - you’ve probably seen them on Instagram - and to date, it’s been hard to find them at your typical retailer. Etsy shops are a good source and they have some beautiful ones, but they can be pricey. I’m glad to see Target carrying them too.

Faux eucalyptus in terracotta pot: Real plants are fantastic, but sometimes you have to go with faux due to lighting or placement (or if you’re particularly gifted at not keeping them alive!). I love this little eucalyptus plant from the new Hearth & Home release. It comes in two sizes and the pot is great too. I haven’t seen this one in person to vouch for it’s “realness,” and there aren’t any reviews yet, but it looks pretty good to me on the website.

Striped quilted bedding: If you’re on the hunt for some new farmhouse style bedding, this is a great set for about $90. It comes with a comforter and shams, and has some really nice seersucker texture to it. It just screams cozy to me too. And P.S. - that metal farmhouse bed frame is Target too. Here’s the link if you want to check it out!

Black & brass wall clock: In the age of all-things-digital, it can be nice to have something analog around. This wall clock is the perfect example. Hang it in your kitchen, entryway, or other prominent location in your home so you can take a glance at the time without picking up your phone. I really like the modern farmhouse style and simplicity of this one in particular.

Library style brass & white task lamp: Classy and anything-but-boring, this lamp will sit pretty on your desk and provide some great task lighting. This is one of those pieces that looks way more expensive than it is - at under $50, you can get a high end look without breaking the bank!

Blue fern botanical art print: Need a simple piece of art to fill an empty spot on your wall? This is a good one. I love the cyanotype style of this fern print and it has a “companion” print in a similar botanical look that you could hang with it. They’re on the smaller side, so just be aware of that when you’re thinking about where they could hang.

Modern white end table: The attention to detail on this little side table is what drew me to it. It’s hard to see here, but the drawer has a ribbed design and I love that brass “T” pull. It looks more like something you’d find at an Anthropologie than Target! I can see it sitting next to a sofa or even as a bedside table if you’re tight on space.

Teal blue accent cabinet: This is another new collection I love in its entirety. It’s a line of casegoods that includes the accent cabinet you see here, along with a coffee table, end table, and media console. There are three colors as well - blue, gray, and white. The pieces are all neutral enough to fit in with lots of other kinds of decor, yet they’re not boring at all with their raised edge detail on top and modern brass knobs.

Striped seagrass basket: It’s hard to go wrong with a large round basket. They’re great for so many purposes - blanket storage, dirty laundry, dog toys, etc. We stuck a similar sized one by our coat tree and it’s where we store all of our winter gear like hats, gloves, and neck warmers. It’s great for keeping that clutter at bay!

Wall mirror with shelf: I saw this mirror in-store recently and was really impressed. The size is great at 20”x30” and the little shelf adds some nice functionality. I’d use it in a bathroom or entryway. It comes in several finishes - black, brass, and pewter - which are all good options in my book.

Modern round storage ottoman: I suggested a pair of these to a client recently and made a note to share them here too - they’re fabulous little ottomans that provide extra storage when needed. I like that they don’t look like your typical storage ottomans though with their clean lines and streamlined design. They’re available in teal, blue, and gray. You could tuck them under a console table, sit them in front of a fireplace, or use them with armchairs. They’re really versatile!

Blue geometric accent rug: This 2x3 rug is perfect for an entryway. It’s a flatweave and made of polyester, so it’s durable and should be pretty stain-resistant. I’d suggest putting a non-slip rug pad under it since it doesn’t have any backing. You don’t want any accidental spills as people walk through the door!

So tell me, what do you think about Target’s new furniture and decor? I’m obviously a big fan, but I’d love to hear your thoughts. Do you have any favorite pieces?

Have a great weekend, y’all!
