Three Simple and Easy Christmas Decor Touches
Hello hello! Just popping in today to share some simple and easy ways to decorate your home for the holiday season. If you’re running a little bit behind and need some quick ideas that you can use, you’re in the right place! I kept things super low key in our house this year and I’ll be sharing it as an example to show you how a little bit goes a long way in making home feel like it’s ready for Christmas.
Below each photo, you’ll see links to some of the products I used* (or similar ones, if they’re no longer available!) so you can easily mimic the look if you’d like!
First up, try hanging a garland of greenery on a stair railing, over a doorway, or across a mantle.

You can never go wrong with adding fresh or faux greenery to your home this time of year. It really makes it feel festive! I’ve used both real and faux, and let me tell you, after cleaning up stray needles and cedar bits for a month after taking ours down a few years ago, I’ve converted to mostly faux! Sure, nothing beats the real thing, but if you can find some good faux garland, snatch it up. No one will know the difference until you tell them (or they go snooping up close) and it’ll save you the headache of constantly cleaning up after a real one as it dries out.
Last year I picked up this faux pine and berry garland from Target to hang on our stair railing and it’s SO GOOD, y’all. It looks really real and has psyched out everyone who has seen it. It goes in and out of stock frequently, so if you head over to buy it and it’s gone, keep trying! I strung two together to make one continuous garland.
They also make a good faux wreath in nearly the same style, so if you’re on the hunt for one of those, take a look at this one. I saw it in store recently and was very tempted to grab it.
If you want to take your garland up a notch, try adding some pretty ribbon to it. I grabbed a couple of spools of black and white herringbone ribbon to make some bows for mine and I love the little something they adds. Those simple additions make it feel just a little bit more exciting! If you need some ribbon ASAP and have Amazon Prime, here’s some that’s similar you can get in a couple of days.
Second, add a splash of greenery to a mirror or the top of a bookshelf.
This year, I did something new and added a little bit of greenery to a round mirror in our living room and I love the way it turned out! I had seen this look all over Instagram and Pinterest and just had to give it a try.
To get this look, pick up a bundle of Christmas greens at your local supermarket or florist and make two small bunches. Lay them next to each other base-to-base facing opposite directions and tie them together using floral wire - leave some extra length at the end to secure it to the mirror later. Then use a small piece of greenery to cover the floral wire. Finally, attach it to your mirror! Take your mirror off the wall and tape the end of the floral wire securely to the back of it using painter’s tape. Depending on how the greenery hangs, you may have to fiddle with it to make it look right. Voila! Festive touch complete.
Third, hang a wreath in an unexpected place.
felt ball wreath (similar to mine)
A simple way to add a little bit of Christmas cheer in your home is to hang a wreath in an unexpected spot. Here, I added a white felt ball wreath to our mid-century modern china cabinet. It’s the perfect touch of holiday spirit for our dining room.
I’ve had my felt ball wreath for several years, so it’s no longer available to purchase anymore, but I did find one that is similar over on Etsy! You could also make your own if you’re feeling adventurous, but that would defeat the purpose of the “simple and easy” claims I’m making for these Christmas decor ideas!
Other good spots for wreaths are in windows, over mirrors, and above mantels. Last year, we hung mini wreaths from Trader Joe’s in our front windows and they looked so cute flanking our door. To hang them, I just opened the window a little bit, fed a length of ribbon over the top that was also looped through the wreath, and closed the window. It was super easy.
So those are my three easy Christmas decorating ideas for y’all! I hope it sparked some creativity for those of you who’re hunting for ideas this holiday season. Have other simple ideas? Share them in the comments! I’d love to hear them!
