Look for Less: Great Furniture Finds - Edition #5
The Look for Less is back for round 5!
This semi-regular series is one of my favorites to research and pull together. I’ve started keeping a little catalog of “lookalike” pieces of furniture or home decor as I come across them, and then once I have five really good ones, I share them here with you!
And I’d love to hear what you think - which ones would you “save” on and which ones would you “splurge” on?
In this round, there are some pretty fantastic budget-friendly options - they’re pretty much dead ringers for the higher end pieces!
I always like to mention that though one isn’t necessarily better than the other, price does often correlate to quality, so keep that in mind as you’re comparing the high version to the low. Of course, it’s ultimately up to you to decide whether you’re ready to save or splurge.
Here’s what I’ve got for today: a sling-style accent chair, a tufted leather stool ottoman, a ribbed table lamp, a rattan dining chair, and a brass six arm chandelier. Scroll on down to check them all out and let me know whether you’d go high or low!
Coastal Modern Sling-Style Accent Chair: Low* | High
The “high” version of this chair has been ALL over my Instagram feed lately, and for good reason - it’s gorgeous! It comes with a price tag of nearly $1,000 though (depending on which fabric/finish option you choose, the price varies a bit), which can be a little bit hard to swallow, so when I saw this VERY similar chair for a quarter of the price, I got pretty excited. So excited, in fact, that I ordered one for our living room! I’ll be sharing it with you soon and giving it my full review, but overall, I am quite impressed by it. Is it a forever quality chair? No, but man, it’s good for the price!
Tufted Leather Stool Ottoman: Low | High
I’m convinced that these x-base leather stool ottomans are the same piece. They’re the exact same dimensions, are both genuine leather, and they look nearly identical. What do you think? If that’s truly the case, I can’t find a reason to “splurge” on the higher priced version when you can get the same thing for less than half the cost!
Modern Ribbed Ceramic Table Lamp : Low | High
I’ve been *this close* to buying the “high” version of this pretty little modern table lamp for years now, but didn’t have a spot for it until we moved into our new house last summer. Then, I happened across this “low” version and realized it was super similar to the one I’d had my eye on. I ended up snagging the $64 lamp and it’s GREAT. I honestly can’t believe how good of a deal it is.
There are slight differences in the height, color of the shade, and finish, but other than that, they’re pretty darn similar.
Coastal Modern Rattan Dining Chairs: Low | High
When I spotted the “save” version of these rattan dining chairs last week, I quickly realized how similar they were to the “splurge.” If you want high end style, but are on a tighter budget, these are a great alternative. Note that they don’t have the brass caps on the legs and the fabric seat is integrated into the structure of the chair, but the style is the same.
Modern-Meets-Traditional 6 Arm Brass Chandelier : Low | High
It’s hard to go wrong with a classic six arm chandelier with pretty shades! I like how these are pretty streamlined - they walk that line between traditional and modern really nicely, and I’m not sure which one I’d choose. The metal finishes and base shapes are a little different, so I think it would just depend on what else is going into the room. They’re both lovely.
