Save or Splurge: Furniture & Decor
Time to decide whether you want to save or splurge! In today’s edition, you’ll find a collection of coastal modern furniture and decor, including a blue block print pillow, white boucle ottoman, black windsor dining chairs, rattan wall scones, and a round vase.
I always find it fun to see if you can guess which one’s the “high” and which one’s the “low” version by looking at the graphic above, and then see how you did below!
I love finding lookalike pieces. It’s amazing how similar some can be to one another. There are some really good ones out there these days. I should note that price does often correlate to quality, so keep that in mind as you’re comparing the products. There are definitely times when it makes sense to take the plunge and invest in something for your home, but mixing in affordable home decor definitely gets hearty approval in my book.

Blue Block Print Pillow:
Save | Splurge
I love a block print pillow right now. My favorite source is actually Etsy (there are so many great custom pillow shops on there!), but the two I found today are from Pottery Barn and an online boutique called Danielle Oakey Shop. These are both beautiful in their own right, but I might splurge on this one! That second print is perfection.
Round White Boucle Ottoman
Save | Splurge
I’ve really warmed up to boucle fabric recently - there’s just something so cozy about that nubby texture and I love it paired with a wood base in these round ottomans. There is a size difference here - the larger is about 22” wide, so it’s pretty big for a “stool ottoman.” If you plan to tuck these away when they’re not in use, the smaller size might be better, but the larger size could truly be used as extra seating when needed. I’m torn on which way to go here!
Black Windsor Dining Chairs:
Save | Splurge
We just purchased the “save” version of these for our dining room. Our existing chairs weren’t able to stand up to the toddler tornado, so we wanted something sturdy and solid wood. These fit the bill! The “splurge” is quite a bit more, but I do love the way the legs are more streamlined at the seat attachment point. Still, I think I’d vote save on this one.
Rattan Wall Sconce:
Save | Splurge
I think the idea of a rattan lamp shade is so cute in on a sconce! The Serena & Lily (splurge) were the originals in my mind, but now there are quite a few options out there at lower price points. The save version here is pretty fantastic - I like the details on the adjustable arms. The mixed metals and more uniform shade might push me in the splurge direction though! These are both plug-in sconces, by the way, so they’d be easy to add just about anywhere.
Round Urn Vase:
Save | Splurge
Lastly, how about a piece of decor? A good vase can be super versatile and great on its own on a shelf or filled with flowers or greenery on a table. I used the save version in my Hanover Modern Traditional project and loved it - it’s a great size and has a high end look to it. The splurge is a little bit darker in tone, which is pretty in its own right.
