A Few of My Favorite Recent E-Design Project Boards

I truly love what I do - it’s a privilege to be able to virtually step into my client’s homes and create spaces that are beautiful to look at and functional for their lifestyles. One of the main (and most fun!) parts of my job is to create design boards to communicate the vision I have in mind for a room and I wanted to share a few recent projects to give you a flavor of what I’ve been working on!

My design boards are intended to give my clients a full picture of what the new pieces will look like in their home. For my Full Room Design service, these are paired with a to-scale space plan that shows scale and furniture placement to round out the vision.

Then at the end of the design process, they receive a shopping list of all the furniture and decor that includes all of the relevant specs to make the ordering process a breeze.

Scroll on down to catch a glimpse of these projects and to hear a little bit of the story behind them!

A refreshed coastal traditional living room fit for hosting

I designed this living room for my clients after helping them give their kitchen a makeover earlier this year! They had some tired pieces that needed to go and were ready for a fresh vision. They love a mix of coastal and traditional styles with a touch of modern as well - one of my favorites as well!

This family of three entertains a lot, so maximizing the seating in their narrow row house living room was a must. It also needed to pull double duty to watch TV (not shown in this view, but the TV will be mounted to the right of the fireplace), so I chose petite swivel chairs that can turn and be moved when needed. The TV will also be on a swivel so it can be pulled out and turned toward the sofa when the family is watching together from there.

One of my absolute favorite finds for this space was the vintage rug. Given the dimensions of the room, we needed something that was an unusual size - long and fairly narrow - which is hard to come by in the world of new rugs. So I turned to Etsy and found this beautiful blue and green rug that was a perfect fit.

Overall, we kept the look fairly light, but added in some depth with the blue chairs and coffee table. There’s still a bit of finalizing left to do on the tone of the coffee table, but this is one of the combos my client is considering!

A bright and modern playroom

Next up, a playroom made for fun for kids! This family of four needed a welcoming and organized space for their children to enjoy and it needed to be comfortable for the adults as well. It’s also in a main area of their home, so I wanted to strike that balance of being kid-friendly as well as visually appealing.

They had some great toy organization pieces already (the shelving and drawer units) that I used as a foundation for functionality, and I added a pair of low-slung modern chairs, a play table, rug, and lighting to round it out. It was important to them to leave a lot of open space in the center of the room for toys and imaginative play, so a rug that maximized the available floor space was key.

I’m so excited for this room to come to life!

Pulling double duty - a combo guest room and nursery

What happens when your out-of-town parents come to live with you for a year, but you also need a nursery for the little one you’re expecting soon? You design a room that is ready for hosting, but can easily be transitioned later into a baby-ready space!

That’s exactly the story behind the space you see above. All it needs to become a nursery for their little boy is to tuck a crib into the window nook. The modern design in warm neutrals and earthy olive green has just enough playfulness to feel like a little boy’s room without totally losing the vibe for the adults who will be using it first.

I played with a lot of patterns and texture in this space to give it a layered, cozy look. My favorite details are the scalloped drawer fronts on the dresser, the swoopy green brushstroke curtains, and the Moroccan style shag rug at the foot of the bed. It’s a bit bolder than my usual work, but I’m a big fan!

A classic blue and wood boy nursery

This nursery is still a work in progress, but this is one iteration I shared with my clients! They like the idea of a classic, fairly traditional designs and patterns, but wanted it to have a little bit of playfulness as well.

We’re testing out the idea of a blue wallpapered accent wall behind a wood crib and keeping the rest of the space fairly neutral. The medium-toned wood adds so much warmth, and I love the details on the crib and dresser. It leads to a timeless, cozy space that’s ready to welcome their baby boy come October!

A transitional-meets-coastal living room in a new home

I’ve been working with this client on her new home since she and her husband closed in the spring. We’re slowly working through different spaces to furnish and decorate it since they moved from a much smaller home! We started with their primary bedroom, and have now finished her office and this living room as well.

This is their main hangout space and it’s open to the adjacent kitchen. They have very tall ceilings and all tile floors (very common in Florida where they live), so my goal was to bring some coziness and warmth to the space while appreciating the light and airy architecture.

They had this sectional already, so I chose a mix of investment and more budget-friendly pieces to round things out and continue the coastal/transitional feel we want to have throughout the house. I love the mix of clean lines (in pieces like the console table and coffee table) with the transitional (the rug and pillows). It makes for a nicely layered, inviting space for them to enjoy as well as their guests!

A modern farmhouse dining room with personality

Once I heard what this client’s vision and ideas were for this dining room, I couldn’t wait to get started on it. She and her husband have pretty different styles (she likes more traditional farmhouse and he likes modern), but I knew we’d be able to merge them in a way that would appeal to them both.

The result is a modern farmhouse dining room that has a little bit of extra spunk thanks to the wallpaper above the chair rail! The design is almost like a broken stripe meets plaid, which adds so much personality to this otherwise neutral space.

Given that they have two active boys, we opted to go without a rug and trade the end chairs for two more of the windsor-style side chairs in the final design. Those white cushions were feeling a little too vulnerable with the boys and their friends! :) The result is still stunning, and I know they can’t wait to share it with their friends and family.

That wraps up a look at my recent e-design projects! I hope you enjoyed the little “tour” and that it gave you a flavor of what I’ve been up to. If I can be helpful in designing your home, I’d love to hear more about what you have in mind. You can take a look at my services using the button below or get in touch!
