Using American Flags as Decor + Best 4th of July Home Sales

Using American Flags as Decor - love the flag hanging against the red brick wall.

In honor of the Fourth of July this week, I thought it would be fun to pull together a roundup of spaces that incorporate American flags as decor. You'll be feeling extra patriotic after taking a spin through these pretty rooms that celebrate America all year round! And don't you worry, these aren't your kitschy "themed" rooms - they're all well designed and the flag acts as a high-impact piece of wall decor that only enhances the overall look. You'll see what I mean below!

There are also some fantastic home sales happening this week and I've got a list of those to share with you at the end of the post - you aren't going to want to miss these if you've been waiting to make that big furniture or decor purchase!

Let's kick off this dose of Americana in by taking a peek at a stunning entryway from Rachel Halvorson Designs. I'm loving the minimalist rustic style she's got going on here. The architecture speaks for itself (hello vaulted ceiling!) and that giant American flag hung casually on the wall is the perfect accent. It's simple, yet stunning, don't you think?

If you'd prefer your American flag have a little more structure to it, you can always frame it like Eden Passante did in her dining room. The simple wood frame provides a shadow box effect and I'm definitely very into it.

Another framing possibility is to go more rustic. You could easily DIY this frame like The Lily Pad Cottage did if you have a miter saw or a hand saw + miter box handy. It just requires a few 45 degree cuts and some corner brackets, and you're all set!

This living room from Eschelon Homes has a little more red, white, and blue going on than the other ones I've shared, but it's not over the top. The thin black frame gives the flag a modern feel up against the whitewashed barn wood wall - I love the contrast!

Go big or go home is what came to mind when I saw this next space with its enormous American flag hanging above a row of cabinetry! It pops beautifully against those white walls, and keeping the rest of the space fairly neutral allows the flag to be the star of the show in this dining room.

So what do you think? Have you ever used an American flag as wall decor in your house? Or would you? I think I'm into it in the right spot - now if I only had a wall big enough for a flag!
