Last week, I shared my top eight design design tips for creating a family-friendly living room and I used our own space as an example of what that could look like. (Missed that post? Head over here to check it out!) Of course you can apply those principles and create a completely different space in another style, but in case you spied a piece or two you liked, I’m back this week to share some sources with you!

Most of the exact items are available, but I do have a few older and vintage pieces too, so I did my best to find some alternatives. If you have any questions about these, feel free to email me or ask in the comments.

Sources for our kid-friendly family room*:

Navy blue modern sofa: Upholstered in olefin fabric, which is a stain-resistant, high-performing fabric. It’s a comfortable that’s a good balance of style, price, and quality. We’ve had it for about two years now and have been happy with it!

Gray club chairs: These are comfortable and DEEP chairs. They’re perfect for lounging or snuggling up with a little one.

Vintage-inspired Persian rug: This busy pattern hides messes well (good news/bad news!), and you won’t have to worry about messing it up. It’s also very affordable for its size and beautiful! Be sure to get a thicker rug pad to pair with it.

Striped cube ottomans: These have been wildly popular, so they go in and out of stock often. I love the subtle stripe. They’re lightweight, so they’re easy to move around when needed. Cluster the two for a larger single ottoman, or split them up.

Modern pendant light fixture: We have high ceilings, so this pendant works beautifully in here! We have the smaller size, but if your room is larger, I would size up.

Round bamboo side table: I love using a larger accent table in a corner between a sofa and chairs. This one is 24”W and has room for a table lamp and plenty of space for drinks, a book, or anything else you might want handy.

Black metal “C” table: This narrow side table is a multitasker in our family. It can be used as a laptop table when needed (the height is adjustable), which is nice. It’s heavy, so I feel like it’s sturdy to have around kids. My only complaint is that it can be a little wobbly if you bump it on the open side.

Striped throw pillow: These are a look-a-like for much pricier vintage tribal pillows. I would recommend swapping the inserts out for some down/feather ones - they’ll last longer and fluff up better.

Gray patterned throw pillow: Another pillow that has a higher-end look for an affordable price. These are pillow covers only, so you’ll need to pick up some inserts as well (again, go for down/feather!).

Blue ceramic table lamp (similar): We received this lamp as a wedding gift 10 years ago - it’s a handmade pottery piece from a maker on Martha’s Vineyard, and I’ve always loved it. The one I linked to is a little more “glam” than the one we have, but it’s similar in shape and color..

Swing arm floor lamp (similar): We’ve had this lamp for a long time and it’s a classic design. I’d love to swap it out for something slightly more interesting in the future, but for now, it’s fine!

Teak mid-century credenza (vintage, but this one is pretty similar): I picked this up from a local antiques mall and added the black metal legs. I love the height it adds, and once we mount our TV, I’ll be able to style it up a little bit more and hang some art on the wall above.

TCL Roku TV (50”): We upgraded to this TV at the end of last year and it’s been so nice to have the Roku integrated into it so we can hop between apps easily. Our previous TV was a 32” flat screen from 2007, so this was a BIG step up, ha!

Art pieces: These are two pieces I painted myself. I feel like they’re not quite “done,” but I love having them up on our walls. If you like this style of modern abstract art, one place to check out is Minted. They have a great selection of pieces along these lines!
